NEW Hwange FC head coach Bigboy Mawiwi is leaving no stone unturned in his quest to turnaround the fortunes of the coalminers after he roped in five seasoned players to beef up his youthful squad.

According to club administrator Khumbulani Mbano, the five new players are Elvis Meleka, Nathan Ziwini, Crybert Muvuti, Crispen Dicksen and Delic Alfonce.

Meleka is a former ZPC Kariba, Shooting Stars, Gunners and Monomotapa midfielder, who also had playing stints in neighbouring Botswana, while Ziwini is a former Gunners and Harare City midfielder.

Muvuti and Dicksen also played for Harare City, with Alfonce coming from ZPC Hwange.

Some of the new arrivals might feature in the Chipangano jersey today in a must win match against another fellow relegation haunted side Tsholotsho FC.

“There are five new players in the Hwange squad now and I have since returned from Harare to do the registration process of the new players. I hope they will also play a huge part in ensuring the balance of the team is maintained as we now embark on the vigorous fight to move from the relegation zone. The current players we have are eager to impress and we hope the blending of experience and youth will work out,” said club administrator Mbano.

The Hwange Supporters’ chairman Maybin Dizomba is also hopeful the interventions will work out.

“As supporters, we will welcome any new arsenal brought in by the technical bench to help the team and we are hopeful they will help the side garner points going forward,” said Dizomba.

The coalminers will travel to Baobab Stadium in Mhondoro for a tricky tie against Ngezi Platinum Stars on Sunday.
