Mawiza and Tebza beyond the music career

Youngsters in the City of Kings and Queens arts sector, Mawiza and Tebza, have proved that birds of the same feathers flock together.

The duo of the Bulawayo kwaito stars have created a profound affinity which is not only based on the kwaito trait only, but it takes the duo more than that to roll together, as they both show a keen interest in their school work.

“Try to balance the two, as both school and music is vital.

“Consistency and patience pays thus it’s wise to juggle school and music. I decided to first finish college and now I’m currently at Nust. I’ve been a kwaito ‘vet’ for years,” Mawiza told Tebza.

Many would have envisaged that kwaito would not see the birth of Amapiano and Gqom genres and Mandoza’s death in 2016 saw the migration of many upcoming kwaito youngsters losing hope in the genre to the trending sound. Bulawayo’s Tebza and Mawiza have, however, decided to remain aboard the “derailing” wagon.

Dubbed the future of kwaito, Mawiza is not only a songster but a finance undergraduate student at the National University of Science and Technology (Nust).

As for the pint-sized Tebogo “Tebza” Moyo, he is doing well in his O-level at Milton High School.

“Tebza is a cultured student, his marks in class are good and this shows that his extra-curriculum activities do not clash with his school work,” said one of his teachers to B-Metro Entertainment.

The Chipo Tsodzo hitmaker’s random guidance to a fellow lad brought about the kwaito genes in the nascent Tebza.

“I met Tebza a few years back at a video shoot and he was more into Gqom house together with his producer Manplaza. I encouraged him to try out kwaito as well and the rest is history,” said Mawiza.

Juggling school and music is the drill for the duo, as their new albums are now available on the online music stores.

In the album Last namba, Mawiza features the likes of Cal_Vin, Mimmie Tarukwana, Manplaza, Tebza, Msizkay, Lisa, Jungle Bwoi and Tebza.

Tebza’s Ezakudala, brings about a seasoned singer to the picture, with the teen muso collaborating with big names in his 10-track album which include K_Tox, Crycen, Mzistozz, Freak, Phana, Skido and Manplaza.

The duo recently dropped the motion pictures for the highly anticipated Easy Majida kwaito song which has been considered as a banger by many in social media circles.
