Mazowe High School has been transformed after the school and parents joined hands in building two computer labs and bought 84 computers recently.
Speaking during Prize Giving Day ceremony the newly appointed School Development Committee chairman Mr Elvas Mari said it was time they upgraded computer skills to their students.
“Our mandate is to see to it that the school grows and it is for this reason that as parents we continuously strive to upgrade our school infrastructure so that the headmaster and his staff concentrate on the curriculum,” he said.
The two labs worth $120 000 are already in operation equipped with 84 computers.
“This is the digital era and we must be seen to be compliant. We bought 84 computers and this should be able to ensure all Mazowe boys have access to the computer lab.
“This milestone development will greatly improve not only the teaching and learning of Information and Communication Technology but also learning and teaching in general,” he said.
Apart from that the school and parents built a Pavilion and office block worth $85 000.
“Parents embarked on a number of projects to make the school competitive and this pavilion serves a dual purpose.
“We usually host high profile basketball and volleyball tournaments and this structure will go a long way in making the hosting of such fixtures memorable.”
The function was also graced by Mazowe West National Assembly member Ray Kazembe who also donated two computers to the school. – Lifestyle Reporter
