Prosper Dembedza

Mazowe North legislator, Tsungai Makumbe has been acquitted of charges of raping a 23-year-old woman.

In his ruling, Harare magistrate Mr Clever Tsikwa said the evidence that was submitted was inconsistent, adding that the likelihood of falsehoods was high.

“The complainant’s version has many inconsistencies and lies. She attempted to paint the accused wrongly,” ruled the magistrate.

Mr John Ndomene was representing the legislator.
