HIGHLANDERS vice captain Andrew ‘Tower’ Mbeba is walking tall after making it into the prestigious 11 Soccer Stars of the Year. And the Bosso rock says he is “absolutely thrilled” to be counted among the country’s best.
Voting was done on Tuesday, with the big crowning night set for December 5.
Taking to Facebook, a clearly emotional Mbeba poured his heart out.
“I am absolutely thrilled and profoundly humbled to confirm that I have been officially voted as a finalist for the prestigious Castle Lager Soccer Star of the Year award,” he wrote.
He said the nomination was not just about him but a salute to the Highlanders family spirit.
“This nomination is more than just personal recognition. It is a testament to the hard work, sacrifice and collective spirit we showed this season. To be recognised alongside some of the best talent in Zimbabwean football is an incredible honour.”
He thanked fans, coaches and the media panel for believing in him.
“Your votes made this possible. Seeing my name on this shortlist is the ultimate motivation to keep pushing boundaries.”
Mbeba showered praise on his teammates and the technical team.
“My deepest gratitude goes to my teammates and the entire club management. This success belongs to all of us. To the Bosso faithful, your roaring voices are the engine that drives us.”
The gritty defender joins an impressive cast that includes Dynamos hardman Emmanuel Jalai, Scotland stars Kevin Moyo and Tymon Machope, Simba Bhora’s William Thole, Emmanuel Ziocha and Isheanesu Mauchi, FC Platinum’s Jarison Selemani, MWOS duo Billy Veremu and Moffat Aboubakar, plus TelOne hitman Washington Navaya.
And with Tower feeling on top of the world, Bosso fans will be hoping 5 December brings even bigger glory.
