Member of Parliament for Mbire Cde Douglas Karoro has pleaded with Government to organise buses for people in Kanyemba who are paying over $105 for a trip to Harare.
The distance between Harare and Kanyemba is 432,7 kilometres.
Speaking at the burial of Chief Chapoto in Kanyemba recently, Cde Karoro, who is also the Deputy Minister of Lands, Agriculture, Water, Climate and Rural Resettlement, said the transport woes made life difficult for the people of Kanyemba. “People are paying $60 from Chapoto to Mushumbi, and from Mushumbi to Harare they pay $45,” he said. “A trip to Harare costs $105 and if a parent is taking a sick child to Harare, he or she needs $210 for transport to and from Kanyemba. “People in Kanyemba are facing a hard time, we are appealing to Government to avail a bus to ferry the people at reasonable fares.”
Cde Karoro thanked First Lady Amai Auxilia Mnangagwa for her support to the people of Kanyemba and Chief Chapoto.
