FORMER Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) spokesperson Mr Witness Dube says his decision to defect to ZANU PF was influenced by the ruling party’s genuine desire to serve the people.
Mr Dube resigned from the Douglas Mwonzora-led opposition party yesterday before attending the ZANU PF star rally in Centenary, Mashonaland Central.
He had been a member of the MDC since its formation in 1999.
“The Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) is blatantly a Philistine building which Samson destroyed by shaking two pillars,” he told The Sunday Mail last night.
“On the other hand, the MDC leadership has collapsed all organs of the party and abandoned the organic relations which the party’s founding fathers had with the people.
“More worrying is the disturbing arrogance of both (Messrs) Nelson Chamisa and Douglas Mwonzora who, in hindsight, tore the MDC the day they both decided to run for secretary-general back in 2014.”
ZANU PF, he said, was the only party with a genuine passion and love for the people of Zimbabwe.
“The ruling party’s agenda is clear and systematically pursued.
“The opposition only uses the people to create jobs for each other and to access taxpayers’ money through political funding.
“They have not added any value to the leadership matrix and development in our country,” he said.
“ZANU PF has developed to be the best it can be.
“Meanwhile, the opposition formations have been degenerating without any hope of self-healing as they have no institutional capacity to do so.”
