ZIMBABWEANS are not fools who can easily be misled by the fading MDC-T party, which has already failed in its bid to wrest power from Zanu-PF. The MDC-T should know that the nation is now concerned with bread and butter issues and not listening to Mr Morgan Tsvangirai who thinks that he has solutions to the economic situations in the country when he is failing to unite his party.
It is surprising that Mr Tsvangirai, who has been on record calling for sanctions to be imposed on the country since he became an opposition leader more than a decade ago, is now blaming President Mugabe for the economic misfortunes of this country.
Actually Mr Tsvangirai should blame himself for causing the economic demise of this country as he invited sanctions to be imposed by western countries.
He is the architect of the lost future of this country.
Every Zimbabwean, including Mr Tsvangirai, knows that the economic demise of Zimbabwe was caused by the sanctions which were imposed by the United States of America (USA) and the European Union (EU) in the hope that once Zimbabweans are hit hard economically, they would turn against Zanu-PF Government in support of the western-sponsored opposition.
Now that Zimbabweans have awakened to the intentions of the sanctions and resolutely supported the revolutionary party, Tsvangirai is crying foul. The MDC-T leader took people for granted when he initiated job stay aways and strikes that choked industry and commerce on top of economic sanctions that were imposed by western governments over Zimbabwe in a bid to destroy the country.
Mr Tsvangirai should now realise that a good and attractive manifesto is what garners support, not relying on western imposed sanctions. Zimbabweans are a hard working lot who, when faced with problems, devise other strategies of survival just as they did in 2008.
They managed to pull through despite being confronted with economic challenges that saw empty shelves in shops as the economic problems reached the climax.
As such, the western countries and the MDC-T knew quite well that without the suffering of the Zimbabwean masses, the MDC-T party would not be recognised by the electorate. Actually the people dumped this supposedly labour-backed party the same way they dumped others that came before it because of its association with the western countries that caused the suffering of people through sanctions.
Mr Tsvangirai`s claim that President Mugabe has ruined the economy and that Zimbabwe is on its knees are just desperate statements meant to confuse people into believing that the MDC-T has solutions for the challenges bedevilling the country. It is an open secret that Zimbabwe`s economic misfortunes are a product of the emergence of Tsvangirai and his political movement in the country. His power hunger antics present a clear and present danger, not just to himself but the country as well.
Since the time when Mr Tsvangirai was the secretary-general of the Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Union (ZCTU), he organised stayaways and strikes that paralysed the economy. This was in pursuit of former USA assistant secretary of state, Chester Crocker’s regime change agenda of making the Zimbabwean economy to scream and, in the process hope to separate the people from the revolutionary party.
And Mr Tsvangirai`s MDC-T party was also responsible for calls on western countries to impose sanctions on the country causing the economic situation in which Zimbabwe finds herself in. So one wonders why Mr Tsvangirai is failing to realise such simple facts and now views this country as in crisis caused by President Mugabe.
Now that the SADC region has changed chairmanship from President Mugabe to Botswana President Ian Khama, the MDC-T has started calling for the SADC region to put Zimbabwe on its agenda.
What the MDC-T is unaware of is that the failure by SADC to put Zimbabwe on its agenda throughout President Mugabe`s SADC stewardship was not because the bloc feared President Mugabe, but rather because there was nothing taking placing in the country that warranted SADC`s attention and intervention.
For the clear facts, Zimbabwe would never be on the SADC agenda as what the MDC-T is calling for just because the new chairman is President Ian Khama, but because there is no crisis that calls for the country to be on the agenda.
The MDC-T leader should wait for the 2018 harmonised elections to see whether the people could elect him for State House stewardship in place of tried and tested President Mugabe. His desperation for a crisis where there is none could make him further lose whatever tatters are left of his political clout
Empty vessels make the most noise and Tsvangirai seems to be living up to that adage.
He should not try to remain relevant in the political sphere by equivocating on the complicity of his party in the systematic destruction of the economy by countenancing the meddling of western countries in the internal affairs of Zimbabwe.
This writer is still to come across an opposition political party apart from the MDC-T in Zimbabwe, which after failing to win elections has rushed to western countries and begged for imposition of illegal sanctions on the victor as a way of punishing the electorate.
In fact, political parties remain relevant in their respective countries by continuously selling their ideas to the electorate, which sometimes lead them to defeat incumbent parties in elections.
A case in point is that of Goodluck Jonathan of Nigeria who lost to Abubakar Buhari in the presidential elections there.
So the MDC-T leader is so power hungry that he thinks calling for the SADC region to put Zimbabwe on its agenda would catapult him into State House.
For that reason, Zimbabweans would never be taken for granted by people like Mr Tsvangirai. He can enjoy his dream for as long as he cherishes.
