Mr Mudisi is reportedly eyeing the Zvishavane-Ngezi constituency under the MDC-T ticket and is set to challenge, Mrs Acropol’s husband, Mr Mike Acropol.
Sources told Chronicle that Mrs Acropol was trying to use her influence, as the party’s provincial chairperson, to intimidate those who want to contest against her husband in the party primary elections.
The sources said Mr Mudisi, who has declared his interest to contest against Mr Acropol in the primary elections, has been receiving several threatening calls allegedly from Mrs Acropol.
Mr Mudisi confirmed receiving threatening calls from Mrs Acropol but refused to divulge more information.
When pressed for comment, Mr Mudisi referred this reporter to the police.
“The matter is being handled by the police. You can get in touch with them. I am about to go into court and I am not at liberty to give a comment at the moment,” he said.
Sources, however, said Mr Mudisi has been adamant despite several meetings with Mrs Acropol and her husband trying to persuade him to withdraw his interests for the Zvishavane-Ngezi constituency.
“After several meetings between Mr Mudisi and the Acropol family failed to yield any results, Mrs Acropol is now phoning Mr Mudisi on a daily basis threatening him with unspecified action if he continues to try contesting against her husband in Zvishavane.
“Mr Mudisi, who did not take the threats lightly, went and reported the matter to the police, who are now investigating the case,” said the source.
Several efforts to get a comment from Mrs Acropol were fruitless, as she was not responding to calls.
Police in Zvishavane confirmed receiving a report of phone threats.
“We are investigating a case in which a resident received several threatening phone calls from a fellow resident.
“We have since summoned the suspect to Zvishavane Central Police Station for a warned and cautioned statement,” said a police officer in Zvishavane.
