THE MDC-T national youth league which was recently elected at the party congress has threatened to forcibly remove President Mugabe before the next election in 2018, a move which analysts say borders on treason.
Happymore Chidziva, the MDC-T youth chairman who spoke for the first time at the Gweru Press Club since his recent election was singing from the same hymn book with party leader, Morgan Tsvangirai, who has in the past failed to mobilise people for his botched “final push.”
The new youth leader takes over from Solomon Madzore who crossed the floor to join the Tendai Biti led MDC Renewal team.
He said the incoming executive will cause chaos which he termed “bvondorisation”.
“We are a leadership that has come to liberate this country and we are able enough to remove (President) Robert Mugabe. There has been talk about reforms and so on but from the youth assembly point of view, the only reform that we want to see is (President) Mugabe getting out of that office.
“As the leadership, we are mobilising people into the streets to make sure that the government of the day will find it difficult to run this country. We will make it ungovernable. There is no free and fair election when (President) Mugabe is in office. Therefore, we will make sure that he is kicked out and that is the way to go – bvondorisation,” he said.
A political analyst who is the Dean of International Relations at the Midlands State University (MSU), Christopher Gwatidzo, described the utterances by the MDC-T youth leader as irresponsible and treasonous.
“I find what the MDC-T is doing grossly irresponsible. In fact it is treasonous to call for the forcible removal of a democratically elected government. The MDC-T lost to Zanu-PF in the last elections because the revolutionary party had a manifesto which resonated with the people. So if they want to come and be the ruling party they should wait until the next elections are due.
“Every law abiding citizen should not take these people seriously and if they are invited to take part they should just refuse. The law enforcement agents should take action against such malcontents because we are a peaceful and tranquil nation,” he said.
First Lady, Cde Grace Mugabe during her “Meet the People” rallies dissuaded people from taking part in mass protests called by Tsvangirai as they would disturb the peace and tranquility the country is enjoying.
She said instead people should focus on implementing the country’s economic blueprint Zim-Asset to turn around the country’s economic fortunes.
