The Procurement Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (PRAZ) has emphasized the need to strengthen systems to combat corruption in public procurement, highlighting the media as a crucial player in promoting transparency.

In his presentation during the Public Procurement 2nd National Media Training in Kadoma on Wednesday, PRAZ monitoring and evaluation manager, Mr Isiah Sango said institutional gaps that include non-compliance with existing laws, poor oversight and accountability mechanisms and low institutional capacity fuel corruption.

“Media can do investigative journalism as a tool to expose weakness that empower corrupt procurement deals,” said Mr Sango.
