Medtech in drive to boost production

cosmetic and toiletry products.
Chief executive Mr Afzal Motiwala told Herald Business that construction of the factory is underway and they have currently invested about US$400 000.

“The company is constructing a factory in Ruwa similar to the one in Bulawayo.
“We are hoping that it will be complete by year end and we would have used up close to US$1 million for the whole project,” said Mr Motiwala.

He said this during an exhibition of their products in Harare yesterday. Mr Motiwala said they were planning to revamp their plant in Bulawayo.
The company will soon unveil a new range of products that include gifts and home-ware.

The company’s pharmaceutical division, ZimPharm, re-opened in March this year.
Mr Motiwala said the division would be venturing into hair and beauty products and as Medtech their focus would be on the distribution of ZimPharm products throughout the country.

Medtech’s Lancaster industrial non-registered
products will be moved to the Ruwa factory after completion.

This is an effort to improve management oversight and cut costs of transporting raw materials from Harare to Bulawayo and finished products back to Harare.
