Meet 9-year-old surprise superb keyboard player

AFTER acquiring a new keyboard a month-ago, Nkulumane-based Seed of Faith church members did not have a clue on who was to play the instrument ahead of the church’s big gatherings. As they say, “what gives me the most hope every day is God’s grace, knowing that his grace is going to give me strength for whatever I face, knowing that nothing is a surprise to God,” a “raw” keyboard player in the mould of a nine-year-old Zibusisozenkosi Ncube, became the answer.

Zibusisizenkosi’s magic hands took the church by surprise as the nine-year-old stunned many congregates as he rose from his sit to play the musical instrument with so much aplomb.

Many knew the Amavene Primary School Grade Four pupil only as the last born to the God-fearing couple of Pastor Nkosilathi Ncube and Pastor Medline Ncube.
The young fellow is indeed a story of dynamite coming in small packages.

“When we bought the keyboard, I told the congregation that we should not be worried as God was going to give us someone who was going to play it. When weeks passed, obviously we got worried on who was going to play the instrument. But I still had faith that someone would.

“My last born Zibusisozenkosi took everyone by surprise one Sunday morning when he rose from his seat to play the keyboard with so much perfection. He did it and he is still doing it. God blessed us,” said an ecstatic Pastor Nkosilathi.

Just last weekend, in a packed Seed of Faith Church, which had hosted a Super Sunday service, young Zibusisozenkosi was on top of his game again, showing his God-given gift.

The boy has unmatched self-confidence on stage.

“I just fell in love with the keyboard when I saw some older guys like Vuyo Mthimkhulu playing it.  I feel great when I am playing it. When I grow up, I want to be a pastor who plays musical instruments,” said Zibusizozenkosi, who can also play drums and is a gifted praise worshipper.

His mother, Pastor Medline, is over the moon.

“It’s a great honour to have such a gifted child. He has a calling, we will pray hard for him to achieve his dreams. We feel blessed and we pray and hope he will continue to play musical instruments so well.”

As if this is not enough, Zibusisozenkosi’s two elder sisters, Nkosinomusa (19) and Buhlebenkosi (13), are also gifted musicians. They are the spine of the church during praise and worship sessions.
