A NEWBIE in the music industry has just landed and his name goes by Kul_em.
The ambitious artiste born Michael Changunduma focuses on hiphop music blended with any genre that he feels deep within and is inspired by the likes of Nasty C, the late Cal_Vin and Young M.A among others.
To take up music as a profession, the youngster said he is inspired by a number of close peers also in the industry.
“My first experience with performing was amazing because I had a lot of support from artists like A Z I E L, Oswell Shane and Yellow Sign.
“As an upcoming artiste the first days are the hardest because you know absolutely no one and you have no idea who to talk to. Even after I got introduced to a few people I still faced challenges when it comes to marketing, I have not overcome that and it is still a struggle for me,” he said.
Kul_em said day by day he trying to up his game.
“My style has evolved when it comes to the way lay down of my lyrics and what makes it more smoother is the fact that I got people around me who are willing to advice me on every single record I make and that just makes me get better and better.
“My most memorable moment in my career is when I opened my instagram account and noticed that Mr Sabastian Magacha has followed me, that really made me go crazy. I don’t want to lie balancing creating art and the business side of music is really hard but somehow I just focus on whatever I can do at that moment and not worry about the rest,” he said.
Yesterday, the youngster released a new track titled Zaka Time with his debut visuals.
“The challenging project I have worked on is the song l dropped today. It has been so challenging because this is my first time dropping music video. It took months to get everything together especially with the finances and I have learnt that it’s okay to just do what you can and leave the rest in God’s hands.
“I am available on all social media platforms as @Kul_em_official. Looking back on my journey I would tell my younger self to be patient because this game is nothing like advertised,” said Kul_em.
