MEGA Market (Pvt) Ltd and Mutare cricket outfit, Mountaineers, have renewed their naming rights sponsorship ahead of the 2026–2027 season, cementing a partnership entering its fifth consecutive year.
The renewal forms a baseline for the franchise’s existing sponsorship packages, which include Willowton Group Zimbabwe (Pvt) Ltd, featuring on the front of the shirt with the D’lite brand, Victoria Falls Safari Lodge (Pvt) Ltd, on the back of the shirt, and additional support from Africabet, Bronwell Engineering, and Mutare Dry Port.
Mega Market Mountaineers general manager, Terry Nyakurimwa, said:
“This season, Mountaineers will demand excellence, develop future talent and pursue success relentlessly. With our sponsors and supporters behind us, our focus is clear: high standards, strong performance and a winning mentality.”
Nyakurimwa’s demand for excellence follows a disappointing 2025–2026 campaign in which the defending champions of both the Logan Cup and Pro50 competition finished empty-handed after failing to retain either title.
The 2026–2027 Zimbabwe domestic cricket season features high-intensity red-ball, 50-over, and T20 action across five major provincial franchises – Mega Market Mountaineers (Manicaland and Mashonaland East), Mashonaland Eagles (Harare and Mashonaland Central), Southern Rocks (Masvingo), Matabeleland Tuskers (Bulawayo), and Mid-West Rhinos (Kwekwe).
Competitions include the Logan Cup four-day first-class tournament, the Pro50 Championship 50-over List A competition, and the domestic T20 League.
In a separate interview, assistant coach, Donald Tiripano, said: “The 2026-2027 season is really going to be an exciting season because it will take a new dimension. We have a lot of new youngsters that are coming through, and we have some senior guys who are slowly transitioning and leaving a lot of experience for our youngsters. I believe it is going to be a great season for us because we have got a blend of young blood and seasoned campaigners. I believe we will do better, especially in the longer version and try things out in the shorter format with the new youngsters coming through into the team.
It is going to be an exciting season that we will see new faces as well as seasoned campaigners that have played for Mountaineers for a long time. I am very keen to see what the season holds for us. To our supporters, we can only say come and support us. We know with your support everything will fall into place.”
