Memorable Easter holiday for kids

This Easter holiday screamed “amusement” for the kids as they had more than enough fun activities to choose from.

Nova Inflatables took it upon themselves to give children in Bulawayo one of the most memorable experiences as they presented various games and activities at the City Hall car park at what was dubbed the Easter Carnival.

From Friday up to Monday, children got to experience horse riding, which was a core memory for some as they were used to seeing horses only on television.

Little boat rides were also on offer and the kids could not be happier when they saw Quadbikes. There was a battle of who would go first on the ride, but luckily, everyone had their chance to ride the bikes.

Watching the kids go about the activities that also included kids’ cars, face painting, and inflatable swimming pools, one could tell that they were having a tough time choosing between activities such as the trampolines and jumping castle.

To keep people entertained, DJ Utenga and Marcus Andro came in handy as they played good music. There is no other way to keep ama2k entertained than playing Amapiano hits and the DJs seemed to know this very well. The music lit up the children’s mood with some coming up with a dance battle as they waited for their turn on the different activities.

Adults who had accompanied the kids as well as the young at heart also joined in on the action as some were spotted on the jumping castle and some horse riding.

What’s a kids’ party without a clown? Dressed in colourful clothes and a multi-coloured wig, Sid The Clown was a hit. Kids loved his jokes and were full of smiles when he handed them designed balloons in the form of hats, swords and flowers.

Chronicle Showbiz chatted with some of the kids, siblings Busisa and Ayize Mphoko who had aquatic fun by the swimming pool. They said they would not trade that experience for anything.

“I was in the pool just now and I enjoyed myself. Tomorrow (Saturday), I’m definitely coming back for more. I want to ride a quad bike and go on horseback,” said Busisa.

The children also used the carnival as a platform for learning because there was an educational virtual reality where they were taught some subjects.

Nova Inflatables spokesperson Progress Moyo said following the success of the carnival, they are considering making it a monthly event.

“This was a four-day carnival and the experience was amazing as people came in their numbers to support and give their children a nice time. From Saturday, we had about 500 to 1 000 people come to play and because of that, we’re planning on having monthly specials at the end of the month just for people to have a break from their busy schedules,” Moyo said.

Adults who clearly had a great time will also be factored in going forward.

“Also, we noticed that the adults wanted in on the fun hence we’re set to create games that adults will also get to engage in while their children are doing their own stuff. This was the first set after the Christmas specials last year, but we realised that we need to have this fun often instead of having people drive out of the city to find fun. We can give them the fun here.”

It can easily be said fun was had over the busy weekend as kids had some time out from their busy school schedules while adults also had a refreshing break.
