Men to Men Indaba: Mind, Body, Brotherhood

Good afternoon, everyone.

Welcome to our live coverage of the inaugural Men to Men Indaba being held at Madziro Leisure Centre just outside Mutare city.

Kicking off at 11am and running until 4pm, this vital indaba is discussing crucial topics and will foster connections among attendees.

This is a momentous event seeking to promote mental health wellness and overall well-being as well as curb the rising cases of non-communicable disease and suicides within communities.

The groundbreaking initiative is being held free of charge and men are welcome to attend and interact with others.

It is being held under the theme “Mind, Bondy and Brotehrhood” and being hosted by Zimpapers Mutare branch comprising The Manica Post and Diamond FM.

Inaugural indaba underway
The Men to Men Indaba has kicked off.
It has attracted a huge attendance of men from all walks of life, among them professionals from different sectors, pensioners and youths as well as traditional, religious and community leaders.


The dynamic duo of Diamond FM radio presenters of Lampy and Chaya Maningi will direct the event with prudence and vigour and humour.


Panel discussions, open dialogue, proactive engagements and expert insights on men’s health and identity will punctuate the event throughout the day, revolving on themes around masculinity, healing and responsibility

Tone set for the indaba

In his opening remarks, The Manica Post editor Mr Cletus Mushanawani welcomed all to the event, highlighting that the objective is for men to discuss in a relaxed environment issues affecting them daily.

He said because men endure a lot both at home and when away at work their mental health gets affected and this indaba will provide therapy for them.

Mr Mushanawani said Zimpapers – through the favourite family newspaper The Manica Post and leading radio station Diamond FM – will continue spearheading initiatives that impact positively on communuties.

He lauded partners who collaborated with Zimpapers to successfully take the event to the people

Rich dialogue on various topics

Various speakers are expected to lead respective discussions, as there will also be question and answer sessions when the audience engages with the panelists.

A community leader is going to speak on the importance of dialogue, while a medical doctor will provide insights on men’s physical and mental health.

Discussions on gender roles and positive masculinity will be led by a gender champion, as will a religious leader speak on spiritual and moral aspects.


Sharing insights on traditional healing practices and cultural wisdom shall be a herbalist.

As the organisers of the inaugural Zimpapers Men to Men Indaba, Zimpapers has partnered several exhibitors from different sectors.
