GERMAN car-maker, Mercedes Benz last week unveiled the all new Mercedes AMG E43 at the New York Motor Show. The new Mercedes AMG E43 comes with a three-litre V6 bi-turbo power plant and optional four-wheel drive which makes it a force to reckon with in the market, come 2017. This new model is the third in recent months from the German manufacturer to feature the new “43” badge.It should not come as a surprise to see one of the well to do in Zimbabwean driving it by the first quarter of next year. Just watch this space.
For AMG E43, the engine’s power has been turned up a notch to generate 396 horse power.
But as with all mainstream AMG Mercedes models, top speed is electronically limited to 155mph (250km per hour).
“The new AMG E43 offers impressive driving dynamics coupled with cutting-edge efficiency. Twin turbo charging, features adopted from motorsport and characteristic AMG design immediately indicate to our customers that the new E-Class from AMG offers pure driving performance coupled with cutting-edge technology and intense emotion,” said Mercedes AMG GmbH chief executive Tobias Moers.
The car comes with a nine speed automatic gearbox as standard and for even more fun, the E 43 can be specified with 4Matic all wheel drive for even better road holding.
Although it made its debut in March at the New York Motor Shows, Mercedes says the car will not be rolling into dealerships until early 2017.
Mercedes Benz is rapidly expanding the number of AMG branded models in its lineup, and the Mercedes AMG E43 at the New York Auto Show is a perfect example of that proliferation.
The E43 is a middle step in the lineup for now and its hotter than the 241 horsepower E300, but the new sedan’s 396 horse power 3,0-liter twin-turbo V6 couldn’t stand up to the 577 horse power from the previous generation E63 S.
The E43’s engine sends its power to a rear-biased 4Matic all wheel drive system that routes through a nine-speed automatic. The vehicle’s run to 60 miles per hour takes 4,5 seconds, which is a huge upgrade over the E300’s 6,3-second sprint.
Mercedes matches the E43’s extra power with subdued exterior upgrades. There’s a new front bumper, 19-inch wheels, and dual exhausts at each rear corner.
Inside, red accent stitching hints to occupants that this sedan is capable of greater performance than the stock model.
The new AMG E43 offers impressive driving dynamics coupled with cutting-edge efficiency. On the AMG E43, Mercedes AMG has upgraded the six cylinder engine’s output by 34 horse power with the aid of two larger turbochargers and sophisticated AMG software.
The AMG E43 achieves a 0-60 time in just 4,5 seconds, while its top speed is electronically limited to 155 mph.
Although it carries the AMG badge, the E43 is not the full-blown, hardcore, track monster that you would expect.
Instead, Mercedes AMG ratcheted up the insanity only incrementally for the E43.
This sedan is destined to serve as the middle of the lineup variant in the same vein as the Audi S6 and BMW 550i.
