MEMBERS of the public in Matabeleland South, Masvingo, Manicaland and Southern Midlands have been advised to look out for windy, cloudy and cool conditions from tomorrow until Saturday.

Temperatures are expected to drop by almost 9 degrees Celsius in some areas.

From Sunday, the weather is expected to be less cloudy and warmer.

In an advisory, the Meteorological Services Department said the weather could lead to colds, coughs, fever and other respiratory illnesses.

“Cool and relatively moist winds from the south- southeast are expected to strengthen on Wednesday evening. This influx will bring cooler air into the country from the south eastern coast of Southern Africa.

“As a result, residents of Matabeleland South, Masvingo, and Manicaland, along with the southern part of the Midlands, can anticipate windy, cloudy, and cool daytime conditions, with some areas experiencing a temperature drop of up to 9 degrees Celsius for instance from approximately 30 degrees Celsius to 21 degrees Celsius).

“Other regions will see scattered clouds and mild conditions, accompanied by occasional light breezes. Evenings will feel quite chilly. A gradual warming trend is expected to begin on Sunday as the winds subside,” said the MSD.

People have been urged to dress warmly especially in the mentioned areas.

“Ensure young children, the elders and persons of an ill disposition are kept warm.

“If the use of a brazier (Mbaura/imbaula) or open fire is employed to keep one warm, ensure the room is well ventilated. Braziers may cause carbon monoxide poisoning” said the MSD.
