Met Office warns of thunderstorms

THE Meteorological Services Department (MSD) has warned of scattered thunderstorms in some parts of the country, with some localised rain.

In a statement yesterday, MSD said although there was widespread precipitation countrywide on Monday, only a few places such as Logan Park (Harare) and Mvurwi had heavy downpours, with 48mm and 33mm respectively.

“Accordingly, tomorrow, 3 January 2018 (today), we expect isolated thunderstorms and rain shower activity along north of the central watershed as well as parts of the Eastern Highlands of Manicaland,” said the department.

MSD warned strongly against the use of electronic devices when it is raining unless there is an emergency. Provinces such as Masvingo, south of Midlands, Matabeleland South and south of Manicaland should on the other hand be occasionally cloudy, windy and relatively cooler than of late.
