A DARK cloud has fallen over the Methodist Church in Zimbabwe following the death of Mrs Adelaide Sithole, wife of Bishop Reverend Simbarashe Sithole.
Mrs Sithole died on Monday upon arrival at Auckland Airport in New Zealand, where she had travelled to attend the World Federation conference.
In a statement announcing her death, Methodist Church in Zimbabwe General Secretary Reverend Likhai Molife described Mrs Sithole as a devout leader, extending condolences to her family, the church community, and ecumenical partners.
Mrs Sithole was also the president of Ruwadzano Manyano and the Girls Christian union (GCU).
Her death comes as Methodist Church leadership and delegates are in New Zealand for the World Federation Conference.
The circumstances surrounding her death were not immediately disclosed.
In the death notice, Rev Molife said the church is mourning the loss of a leader who played an important role in the Methodist community.
“It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing on of our devout leader, our mother, Mrs Adelaide Sithole,” he said.
He extended condolences to Rev Sithole, their children, relatives and friends, as well as the wider ecumenical community and the Methodist Church.
Rev Molife called on members of the Methodist community and the wider ecumenical family to remember the Sithole family in their prayers.
Further details on funeral arrangements, including the repatriation of Mrs Sithole’s body to Zimbabwe and burial arrangements, will be announced in due course.
