GODWIN MHAKA and Spiwe Munyaka will put their titles on the line today when Zimbabwe begin their campaign at the United World Sports and Fitness Federation Championships in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

Mhaka returns as the defending deadlift champion, while Munyaka won gold in her category at last year’s championships.

They lead a five-member Zimbabwe team that also includes Manix Musundire, Gift Portifer and Wassemkurawley.

The championships run for three days.

Mhaka, who is also the World Fitness Federation Zimbabwe president, has considerable international experience.

His honours include the Mr Ironman Botswana title and the 2017 Mr Pretoria Classics championship in South Africa.

He believes last year’s campaign has prepared the Zimbabwean athletes for the challenge.

“We now have enough experience after we were part of the competition last year and managed to win several medals.

“The competition will be tough because it brings together some of the world’s best athletes, but we believe we are ready to compete,” said Mhaka.
