SEASONED body-builder Godwin Mhaka has upped up his preparations ahead of the World Fitness Federation Mr Universe scheduled for Las Vegas in the United States, next month.
Mhaka is expected to be part of the contestants, who will take to the podium at the two-day event scheduled for October 19 and 20.
WFF Mr Universe will see over 200 athletes from over 38 countries battling for silverware and Mhaka, who finished second in the Senior Men’s Bermuda category at the World Fitness Championship in Berlin Germany last year, is already in the gym preparing for his second dance at the world fitness jamboree.
The Hulk will take part in the Senior Men Bermuda Category and Warrior Fitness, in which he is the defending champion. Affectionately known as “GS” in the fitness industry, Mhaka said he was ready to fight for gold and has been in the gym for some time.
“The preparations are going on very well, but I’m also facing some bit of constraints in terms of dieting and lack of some supplements that are needed.
“So, far I am on 60 percent and I am trying so hard to continue pushing to improve by conditioning. But I still feel there is a lot that needs to be done if I’m to go there and win gold.
“Last year I competed and came first in Warrior Fitness and second in Bermuda and I am looking forward to repeating the same this year.
“I am preparing to win gold and my main category is Bermuda, then another gold in the Warrior fitness, and this is a great show because it will have top athletes from around the world.
“I have to be extremely prepared, more than I was in the last competition and I’m positive that come the day, I’m going to win gold and make my country proud,” said Mhaka.
However, resources have been a big challenge. “Total Fitness Gym has been sponsoring me and I’m very grateful to them but they cannot cover everything.
“So, I’m still seeking for other sponsors to help me since I will be competing in one of the biggest body-building shows in the world.
