Mhere dumps producer

Gospel musician Mathias Mhere has dumped his producer, Lyton Ngolomi, over a copycat. Last week Ngolomi produced another artiste, Justice Chiware, who was mistaken for Mhere because of striking similarity in their music.
Save for a slight difference in some songs, the voice and the beats are the same on the album.

Sources close to the two said the fallout started after the musician acquired studio equipment about two months ago with the apparent intention of cutting ties with Ngolomi’s Lyt-On Studios.

“Mhere acquired studio equipment sometime in August and this did not go down well with the producer,” said the source. He said after the producer came across the news he engaged Mhere’s backing vocalist to produce an album similar to the “Favour” hitmaker’s.

Mhere confirmed the development to The Herald Entertainment yesterday but declined to shed more light.“I have just decided to move on because we cannot go on thriving on controversy,” he said.He added that he was looking for another producer as he was establishing his own recording studio. “I am an artiste and I know my music, so we are still finding another producer to work with me on coming projects,” Mhere said. Ngolomi downplayed the issue saying all was well with him and the musician.

“I don’t know about the fallout. I still have to find out from Mhere,” said Ngolomi. This is not the first time controversial Ngolomi has produced copy-cats.
Recently he was blasted for producing Trymore Bande’s music that was sold as Pastor Charles Charamba’s album.
