After losing out this year’s National Arts Merit Awards, the pint-sized musician said the videos were likely to win him a few awards.
“I did my best on the videos and I thank the Lord for blessing me.
“I would like to thank the crew that helped me shoot the videos,” said Mhere.
What is interesting about the videos is the versatility shown by the young musician. The scenes on the videos accurately depict the message.
For example, on the song “Favour”, Mhere is seen chairing a board meeting surrounded by otherwise old people depicting that God does not consider the age of the person but rather the heart.
The song talks about how material prosperity is not gained by human efforts but from God.
“Favour” is about how opportunities, chances and favours come not from fellow human beings but from God. “Favour haitengwe nemari/Favour inouya na- Mwari,” he sings.
The type of wardrobe he chooses also fuses well with the title of the song. On “Favour” Mhere is seen wearing an immaculate designer suit while in the song “Areka”, the father of one wore an apostolic garment.
The gospel protégé also shows his versatility on the dance floor, with some well-choreographed dance moves.
Mhere hopes that the DVD will have the same impact that his album has had on people.
“I am called to preach the gospel through music, I hope this will touch people’s hearts,” he said.
Born on June 13, 1988 in Gutu, Mhere said he was inspired by the music of Baba Machanic Manyeruke and started singing in Grade 3 at St Mary’s Primary School in Gutu.
This is his second album after his 2007 effort, “Tinoda Nyasha”.
