THE body of the late Highlanders Football Club chairman, Retired Colonel Kenneth Mhlophe, has arrived at Lady Stanley Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest with full military honours.

The cortege arrived from Imbizo Barracks following a military funeral parade held in honour of the decorated former Zimbabwe National Army officer.

Family members, friends, senior military officials, Highlanders Football Club representatives, football administrators and supporters have gathered at the cemetery to bid Mhlophe a final farewell.

Retired Colonel Mhlophe died in a tragic road traffic accident last week alongside Highlanders vice-chairman Fiso Siziba and treasurer Nkani Khoza.

Siziba and Khoza were buried at Lady Stanley Cemetery on Monday, while another victim of the crash, supporter Mbalenhle Sibanda, is being laid to rest in Filabusi today.

Mhlophe’s burial marks the final chapter in the farewell to the three senior Highlanders leaders whose deaths have plunged the club and the football fraternity into mourning.
