Transport and Infrastructural Development Minister Felix Mhona, who is attending the International Road Federation (IRF) World Congress 2024 in Istanbul, Türkiye, visited Turkish Airlines on Thursday and held various discussions with other senior officials.
Minister Mhona met with the Turkish Airlines board chairman Professor Ahmet Bolat and chief executive officer Mr Bilal.
Among the issues discussed was the prospect of Turkish Airlines flying into Zimbabwe in the near future and also the two countries’ cooperation in the aviation sector.
The meeting is a testament to President Mnangagwa’s engagement and re-engagement drive, as well as the Open Skies Policy.
The IRF congress, which started on Monday and ends today (Friday) is being held under the theme ‘Connecting to Empower Mobility: Roads as Enablers of a Sustainable Future for all’.
Minister Mhona is accompanied by Zinara board chairperson Dr George Manyaya, Zinara chief executive Mr Nkosinathi Ncube, Zimbabwe Traffic Safety Council board chairman Mr Kura Sibanda and managing director Mr Munesu Munodawafa.
The Ambassador of Zimbabwe in Türkiye, Mr Alfred Mutiwazuka and officials from other countries is also attending the congress.
