THE Mhondoro-Ngezi Community Share Ownership Trust and Norton Town Council have allocated 24 hectares and 18,8 hectares of land respectively for the construction of Vocational Training Centres in their respective areas, an official has said.

In addition to the land the Mhondoro-Ngezi Community Share Ownership Trust is also providing $40 000.

Youth development officer for Mashonaland province Mr Edias Mavune said VTCs will increase employment in the country.

He said this during the handover ceremony for stationery donated to the country’s vocational training centres yesterday by leading stationery suppliers Rank Zimbabwe.

Rank Zimbabwe donated 60 000 exercise books and 42 white boards to all 42 VTCs around the country.

Mr Mavune said the partnership of VTCs and Rank Zimbabwe should be promoted.

“Through these VTCs employment creation rate will increase and this will assist in the implementation of the Zimbabwe Agenda for Sustainable Socio-Economic Transformation,” he said.

“This is the second year running where Rank Zimbabwe is partnering with our ministry by offering our VTCs such vital and critical resources to enable us to impart skills and empower our youths,” he said.

He said it is the ministry’s expectation that the VTCs will put the stationery to good use by empowering the youths.

Rank Zimbabwe operations manager Mr Amish Naik said the group is proud to be associated with the VTCs and that they provide a vital step in empowering the youths in the country.

“As a group we are happy to assist the Zimbabwean education sector.

“We are also proud that all the exercise books donated here are ‘Proudly Zimbabwean’ products we are manufacturing here in Zimbabwe.

“Government has actively promoted education ever since independence.

“Government is also encouraging that Human Capital Development through investment in vocational centres is one of the key result areas in the current Zim-Asset plan,” he said.
