THE Zanu-PF Midlands provincial leadership yesterday unanimously added its voice to growing calls for President Mnangagwa’s leadership to be extended beyond 2028 so that he sees his Vision 2030 coming to fruition.

The province said the move will consolidate the goals attained by the Second Republic and lead to the realisation of the national Vision 2030 aimed at transforming the country into an upper-middle-income society.

Cde Edson Chiherenge, the Zanu-PF Midlands provincial chairperson said as a province they have made a resolution for President Mnangagwa to take the country beyond 2028.

“As a province, we have made a resolution to see to it that our visionary leader takes us through to Vision 2030. We are very proud of what the country has achieved ever since he took over the reins of power. As such we want to continue seeing this development,” said Cde Chiherenge.

Cde Tsistsi Zhou who is the party’s Women’s League provincial chairperson seconded the resolution.

“In my personal capacity as Tsitsi Zhou and representing the Zanu-PF Women’s League, I propose that the President’s tenure be extended,” she said.

The war veterans also supported the resolution.

“As war veterans, we support the noble idea, we want to see the President realising his vision, so we still want him from 2030 and beyond,” said Cde Amos Mapingire the provincial war veterans chairperson.

“As the veterans of the struggle, we want to see some of the fruits that pushed us to go to the bush back then. As such we are in solidarity with calls for our President to continue at the helm until his vision is achieved,” he added.

The Midlands Provincial Youth League was the first to make the recommendations at an inter-district youth league conference held sometime last month.

Cde Owen Ncube

Midlands Provincial Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution Cde Owen Ncube also took the opportunity to highlight some of the projects in the province.

“I am highlighting projects done in our province from Gokwe to Mberengwa. In this regard, I want to commend the province, for supporting the First Secretary’s vision, and Government programmes.”

The Zanu-PF National Political Commissar, Cde Munyaradzi Machacha, who attended the meeting said he will convey the message and recommendations made during the gathering to President Mnangagwa.

“I am going to tell the President about your resolution, we need to add more votes to the President. I am happy with the presentations made by the ministers, which clearly shows how you are progressing by meeting timelines,” he said.

The inter-district meeting also witnessed the party leadership taking stock of the progress made in cell restructuring and verification process at the grassroots level, a scheme meant to strengthen the party going forward.
