Midlands Province has received all farming inputs under the Presidential Input Support Scheme which is targeted mainly at communal farmers. Zanu-PF Midlands Provincial chairperson Engineer Daniel McKenzie Ncube said they were already distributing the inputs to communal farmers throughout the province.

Eng Ncube said the latest consignment was an addition to the inputs that were distributed earlier this year ahead of the summer cropping season.

Farmers started receiving inputs as early as June to enable them to be fully prepare for the summer cropping season.
Eng Ncube said more than 300 000 families in the province were set to benefit from the scheme.

“As a province we have received another consignment under the Presidential Input Support Scheme. The farmers are already receiving the inputs. The scheme is a continuous programme and farmers will continue to receive inputs. We have urged our provincial leadership and those responsible to ensure that the inputs get to the farmers as soon as possible.

“We are targeting about 300 000 households in the province. The idea is to ensure that we are food secure at household level,” he said.

The presidential input support facility was meant for every Zimbabwean regardless of their political affiliation.
“Distribution of inputs is done through Government. We are warning all those who have propensity to abuse the inputs to desist from such habits or risk the consequences.

“President Mnangagwa has emphasised the need to eradicate corruption, so there is no room for that. Our President has emphasised the need to eradicate poverty and avert hunger and it is incumbent upon us to complement him and Government in realising this vision,” he said.
