Midlands to send 715 to Congress

ZANU-PF Midlands Province is sending 715 members from its 563 party districts to represent it at the Extraordinary Congress set for Harare next month. The gathering, which was initially set to run for six days, has since been cut to three days.

The budget for the event has similarly been revised from $8 million to $1 million. In an interview, Zanu-PF Midlands provincial chairperson Engineer Daniel McKenzie Ncube said accreditation of delegates that will travel to Harare starts on December 1. He said the province would convene a meeting and arrange on the logistics and to communicate the new developments.

“As you are aware the number of delegates has been substantially cut. We have resolved that we would be sending one person from each of the 563 party districts in the province. A total of 715 people will be going to the Congress including Central Committee and provincial executive members. The district will choose a representative,” he said.

Eng Ncube assured party members that the province will not purge G40 associates, but will reintegrate them. He also said the province will not suspend or expel any of its members who have been accused of working in cahoots with the G40 cabal. Eng Ncube said the province will only accept suspensions and expulsions effected by the Politburo.

He urged all the party’s administrative districts to salvage all former G40 associates that were willing to be reintegrated into Zanu-PF and advance programmes of the party. He said there was no need for former G40 associates to clandestinely approach individuals to be reintegrated into the party.
