MIDNIGHT MINE MAYHEM: Foreigner shoots local dead

A CHINESE national allegedly gunned down a local man during a tense confrontation at a mine in the early hours of Wednesday.

Police confirmed that Quijun Yu (43), shot Fungai Nhau (36) at around 2AM on 9 October 2025, inside the Boiler/Carbon Room of a local mine in Makosa.

According to police, Yu was reportedly on duty when a group of people stormed the area, leading to a chaotic scene that ended in tragedy.

“The Zimbabwe Republic Police is investigating the circumstances surrounding a shooting incident in which a foreign national, Quijun Yu, shot Fungai Nhau at a mine in Makosa,” said national police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi. “The suspect has been arrested and more details will be released in due course.”
