Minerals dealer duped

An employee of Kuwanda Minerals Group has appeared at the Harare Magistrates Court court on allegations of duping a minerals dealer of US$13 400 by pretending he could export chrome ore.

Kudakwashe Felix Kamangira was charged with fraud when he appeared before Mr Dennis Mangosi after he allegedly duped Rajesh Nathoo whom he had approached saying he had a lucrative deal to export chrome.

He was not asked to plead to the charges and Mr Mangosi remanded him to January 12 for his routine remand. It is the State’s case that in May this year Kamangira approached Nathoo with a business proposal of exporting chrome ore to South Africa.

Kamangira allegedly told Nathoo that he held a valid mineral export permit and owned chrome claims in Guruve. Acting on the misrepresentation, Nathoo engaged his South African partner and sourced US$13 400, to buy 60 tonnes of chrome and allegedly paid this in cash to Kamangira.

After receiving the cash, Kamangira told Nathoo that he was going to travel to Guruve on June 4 to load the chrome. But Kamangira was never seen again and went to Mauritius.
