LAST week, the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Honourable Ezra Chadzamira, convened a meeting with the Provincial State Occasions Committee to finalise preparations for the upcoming National Month national launch.

Scheduled for May 22 in Chiredzi, Masvingo province, this high-profile event will be officiated by President Mnangagwa, marking the launch of Culture Month under the theme, “Celebrating Indigenous Voices.”

During the meeting, Minister Chadzamira emphasised the critical importance of unity and teamwork in ensuring the success of state functions. He urged committee members to collaborate effectively, stating that their combined efforts should embody the values of patriotism and dedication to cultural preservation.
“Our strength lies in unity. Let’s continue to work together, showing the nation and the world that we’re true patriots dedicated to the progress and well-being of our people,” Chadzamira said.

This year’s Culture Month aims to spotlight Zimbabwe’s rich cultural heritage, particularly the nation’s 16 official languages.

The launch promises to be a vibrant celebration of cultural identity and national pride, drawing participants from across the country and showcasing the diversity that defines Zimbabwean society.

Minister Chadzamira highlighted the significance of the President’s presence at the event, noting that it would add prestige and reaffirm the government’s commitment to cultural preservation and unity. He called upon the youth to prioritise their culture, urging them to take pride in their heritage and contribute positively to the nation’s narrative.

In a powerful address at the Zimbabwe Congress of Student Unions Masvingo Provincial Public Lecture held at Reformed Church University (RCU) recently, Hon Chadzamira commended students for their dedication, emphasising that today’s youth are the key architects of Zimbabwe’s future.

Condemning drug and substance abuse, he urged students to be vigilant and report offenders, echoing President Mnangagwa’s message that the country is built, prayed for, and governed by its own people.
“Instead of taking illicit drugs and peddling falsehoods on social media, it’s my exhortation that you take up these opportunities and utilise them. Students and youths are the vanguards of our country and should defend our hard-won independence,” he said.

Before the lecture, Minister Chadzamira toured the RCU campus, accompanied by the Permanent Secretary for Masvingo Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Dr Addmore Pazvakavambwa. He expressed appreciation for the university’s role in knowledge dissemination and pledged 30 000 bricks for the completion of the Pavilion currently under construction, showcasing the government’s commitment to supporting educational institutions.– Follow on X @MbuleloMpofu
