Minister Garwe set to commission fire tender, Bikita conference facility

George Maponga in Bikita

Local Government and Public Works Minister Daniel Garwe is set to commission a US$270 000 conference centre and lodges at Nyika Growth Point in Bikita today.

The minister will also commission a fire tender that will cater for disasters across all of Bikita’s 32 wards.

He will also hand over 42 motorbikes to councillors under the Bikita Rural District Council.

Speaking before the commissioning, Minister Garwe revealed that the conference centre, built by the Bikita Rural District Council, has a capacity for 300 people.

“Work on the conference centre started in 2014, and today we are going to commission it and some lodges. These projects speak to Vision 2030,” said Minister Garwe.

He noted that the motorcycles will help enhance service delivery across Bikita District, in line with the Second Republic’s mantra of leaving no one and no place behind.
