Local ICT company Tendo Electronics (Pvt) Ltd has been congratulated by Information Communication Technology, Postal and Courier Services Minister Tatenda Mavetera for recently being awarded the “Data Centre Partner of the Year 2023 — Southern Africa” by Schneider Electric at its annual Middle East and Africa Conference recently held in Tbilisi, Georgia.
Tendo Electronics is one of Zimbabwe’s premier critical infrastructure service providers and has emerged as a regional leader in the area of data centre design, building and maintenance in neighbouring Zambia and the DRC.
“We want to appreciate and congratulate Tendo for winning this prestigious award. This is very good for us as a country, where we have companies that are positioning themselves globally,” said Minister Mavetera.
Tendo Electronics chief executive Mr Mike Kamungeremu said: “For most of the manufacturing companies, telecomms companies, financial institutions and parastatals, we have designed and built data centres for them so their networks are actually resident on the infrastructure that we built, which we call the network critical, physical infrastructure.”
ICTs analyst Mr Kennedy Chando said this was an endorsement of Zimbabwe’s ICT industry, which was proving to be competitive on the African continent.
“It is testimony that we have the capability to compete with international companies in terms of data centres, which is part of our ICT industry,” he said.
The annual Middle East and Africa conference, which this year was held in Georgia, was an event curated for the highest performing partners in the region.
Tendo Electronics received this award for the second year running, after winning the award last year in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt in June 2023.
Schneider Electric is a 36 billion euro global company that specialises in digital automation and energy management.
It is a global market leader in data centre physical infrastructure and management solutions. Tendo Electronics has been a partner for Schneider Electric for more than 20 years at various levels, and now holds the highest levels of partner certification in Zimbabwe and in the region.
It is the only Schneider Electric elite partner for data centres in Zimbabwe, a level only reserved for global partners that hold critical skills and generate revenue numbers commensurate with this required tier.
Tendo Electronics has moved into the region, deploying similar infrastructure in countries like Zambia and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The company scored a first in 2022 for Schneider Electric by deploying the first Schneider Electric pre-fabricated data centre solution in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Apart from being a regional market leader on data centres, Tendo Electronics is an integrated solution provider supplying, installing, servicing and maintaining uninterrupted power supply (UPS) systems , standby generators, inverters, CCTV systems, access control, fire suppression, air conditioning, building management systems and solar solutions among other services.
