MINISTER Lindani Masuku is not just a gospel artiste. She is a messenger of God, who uses her music to share the gospel of salvation and the love of God. Her second album, titled Ngeka Jesu Linto (This thing is for God), is set to be released in February next year. The album, which consists of 10 tracks, is a reflection of her unwavering faith and her passion for serving God.
In an interview with Saturday Leisure, the award-winning Masuku revealed the inspiration and meaning behind her new album. She said she strongly believes that God has called and anointed her to do this work, and that she is not doing it for her own glory or liking.
“I strongly believe that God has called and anointed me for this hence the push to keep going and bring new work. The new album that is coming is amazing. It’s called NGEKA JESU LINTO. Why? Because this is not my doing or my liking. It’s because I want to make people understand that whatever I am doing is not mine or whatever people see in me is not my idea. I’m sent to do it and called to do it. It’s not my project it’s the Lord’s,” she said.
Masuku also expressed her gratitude for God’s faithfulness in her life. She said that she has seen the love and goodness of God in this season and that she has grown to love God more. She said that God has taken her beyond her mind’s limitation and that she has experienced great opportunities as an artiste, even internationally.
“In this season I have seen the love of God in my life. I have grown to love God more because of his goodness. As I walk in this journey Christ is being revealed to me more. I have experienced great provision opportunities even internationally as an artiste. God has taken me outside my mind’s limitation,” said the gospel artiste.
One of the standout tracks on the album is called “Akasibaleli,” which means “He does not forget us”. Masuku said that this song resonates deeply with her, and that she feels compelled to sing it out as a testament to God’s goodness and undeniable presence in her life. The lyrics reflect her conviction that God is indeed a good God, who never forsakes or abandons His children.
Another significant track on the album is titled Khangel’Umsindisi, which means “Look for the Saviour”. In this song, Masuku delivers a powerful message to those who have not yet found salvation in Christ. She urges them to seek the Saviour, who died for their sins and rose again to give them eternal life.
Masuku, who has been a born-again believer since the age of four, emphasises that her music is not about making money, but rather about serving God and uplifting His name. She said some people may feel that she is too spiritual and suggest that she should be more light-hearted, but she remains steadfast in her calling.
“When I do my music many will testify that I mean serious business. Not business to make money but to impact lives. My duty is to see God exalted among men. I have made sure that I don’t take the glory about it for Ngeka Jesu Linto (This thing is for God). Some people think I am too spiritual and they feel I should loosen up a bit and give them a different vibe but I can’t. When I minister I’m just serving the one who has called me and me trust that in whatever I do, He is the one who then does the rest concerning my fans and supporters. No one can twist me to do otherwise. So those who follow me get blessed because I take them to the right place,” said the Ngiyabonga hit-maker.
Despite facing challenges due to her busy schedule, Masuku remains committed to delivering the best possible album. She said it takes time for the purpose of the album to be fully realised and that she is content with taking things one day at a time. She said she hopes that her album will bless many people and draw them closer to God.
“It’s not easy doing this new one. It’s coming with 10 tracks and I’m sure you know what that means. This one took me more than a year to finish writing the songs. Which makes it one-and-a -half years to have it cooked and dished out. All songs were written by myself. On the 1st album I worked throughout the songs alone then straight to the studio. But this time I’m doing it much better, working with a fine young lady and young man who’s making sure this product is coming out right.
“I am humbled by their dedication and love for my music. God has been so good coming to financing the production of the project and may I just say it’s a bomb. Inspired by the Holy Spirit himself. Also, I am currently staying in Kwekwe but the product is being cooked in my happy City, Bulawayo.
This coming album has eight Ndebele songs and two Shona songs. All of them are amazing and have a great message. If you go through all of them, you’ll notice that they have the same theme centred on God’s love for us,” said the multi-award winning musician. — @TashaMutsiba.
