Veterans of the Liberation Struggle Affairs Minister Monica Mavhunga today visited the Mphambela family home in Westgate to pay her condolences following the passing of the Permanent Secretary in her ministry, Mr Clive Mphambela yesterday.
Mr Mphambela, who was 51, succumbed to injuries sustained in a road traffic accident in Chivhu last week.
He was a former communications director in the Ministry of Finance, Economic Development and Investment Promotion.
Minister Mavhunga described the deceased as a dedicated and tireless individual who made significant contributions to the structuring and development of the War Veterans Ministry.
“Clive joined the ministry in October 2023 when he was appointed as the Permanent Secretary, and together we developed the structure of the ministry, its strategic plan, and annual plan,” she said.
“We were also planning to conduct a mop-up vetting exercise for Veterans of the Liberation Struggle, specifically targeting war collaborators and non-combatant cadres.”
She said Mr Maphambela left an immense void that will be extremely challenging to fill.
Nkosana Leroy Mphambela, the deceased’s eldest son, said his father will be laid to rest tomorrow at Glen Forest Cemetery in Harare.
Mr Maphambela is survived by his wife Mrs Rufaro Loveness Mphambela and three children.
Mourners are gathered at house number 325, Platinum Street, Westgate, Harare.
