The Minister of Energy and Power Development, Cde July Moyo, is today set to officially switch on the US$228 104 Alpha-Montrose electrification project at Alpha Primary School in Insiza District.

The project, implemented by the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) through the Rural Electrification Fund, comprises 17.3 kilometres of power lines and benefits 67 individual and institutional users.
It forms part of a broader electrification drive in the district by REA, which has so far seen 68 primary schools and 25 secondary schools connected to the national grid, while 28 primary and five secondary schools are in the pipeline to be powered.

In addition, the Agency has electrified 21 health institutions, with four more set to be connected soon.
All four traditional chiefs in the district have had their homesteads electrified, alongside 27 business centres, as part of Government’s ongoing efforts to ensure inclusive rural development through access to electricity.
