The recently commissioned Gamanya Clinic in Chivhu has brought relief to residents who no longer have to travel far to access health care.
Mashonaland East Provincial Affairs and Devolution Minister, Dr Apollonia Munzverengwi commissioned the clinic in the presence of Chikomba East legislator Cde Felix Mhona and other Government officials.
Cde Mhona, who is also the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Development, donated beds to the clinic.
“I want to thank President Mnangagwa for devolution funds. This has assisted local authorities to develop communities and improve service delivery,” said Minister Munzverengwi.
“This clinic will go a long way in improving health delivery in this ward and beyond.”
Mr Philemon Mhuka, a Gamanya resident, could not hide his joy.
“We are blessed. God and the Government have remembered all of us. I am happy that this clinic has finally been opened,” he said.
“We have been walking up to 10 km to get to the nearest clinic. For someone who is ill, the distance is just too long.
“However, the Government through Chikomba RDC has heard our cries and today our clinic has been commissioned. I thank the Second Republic for walking the talk and ensuring these critical services are brought closer to us.
“At this pace, surely Vision 2030 can be achieved,” said Mr Mhuka.
Ward 2 Councillor, Alderman Peter Mapiravana said people should not walk long distances to access critical services like health and education.
He thanked residents for working closely with the council in developing the community.
