THE Minister of Industry and Commerce, Cde Nqobizitha Mangaliso Ndlovu, has empowered rural women’s groups with capital to pursue projects that will provide them with a sustainable source of income.
A total of 19 groups, drawn from various wards in Bulilima District, received US$100 each during a recent public event as part of several initiatives that Minister Ndlovu has rolled out over the years, mostly during his tenure as Bulilima East Constituency legislator.

All the groups were established by Minister Ndlovu and are excelling in various fields of focus. They specialise in baking, goat rearing and poultry farming, among other projects.
The event coincided with Minister Ndlovu’s birthday celebrations, where the groups also received farming equipment primarily intended for the Intwasa/Pfumvudza farming programme, known locally as Ugatshopo.

Speaking at the celebrations held at Ntunungwe Secondary School, Minister Ndlovu urged the beneficiaries to make effective use of the donated funds by setting up sustainable projects.
“I am happy to see that the groups we formed back when I was MP are still functional, as your presence here speaks volumes to that effect. Each group will receive US$100, which is a boost to the projects you are already running, and I hope you will continue to make use of these groups so that you can feed your families. In the process, the community becomes economically viable,” said Minister Ndlovu.
He urged the Bulilima Constituency team, representing area legislator Cde Dingumuzi Phuti, to maintain constant engagement with the groups while expressing his support for Cde Phuti’s leadership.

“A lot of people were shocked that I did not stand in the past elections, and many who did not know Cde Phuti were worried if he would take good care of them. Cde Phuti has proved his critics wrong and delivered exceptionally — perhaps in ways I could not. I implore his officers representing him here to ensure all these groups continue to work, continue to have people at heart, and may Bulilima continue to grow under your leadership,” said Minister Ndlovu.
