Mashonaland East Provincial Affairs and Devolution Minister Advocate Itayi Ndudzo has commissioned two blocks of four classrooms at Gezi Primary School in Ward 11, Murehwa District.
The classroom blocks were constructed by Mr Misheck Mudzinge Chinondo, a native of Gezi Ward 11 who is based in the diaspora, in response to President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s call for Zimbabweans living abroad to contribute to the country’s development.
In addition to the eight classrooms, the new infrastructure includes the headmaster’s office and ablution facilities to improve the school’s learning environment.
Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, Advocate Ndudzo commended Mr Chinondo for investing in education and contributing to community development.
He said the project reflects the spirit of President Mnangagwa’s development philosophy, “Nyika inovakwa nevene vayo” (A country is built by its own people), and urged other Zimbabweans in the diaspora to emulate such initiatives.

Advocate Ndudzo said partnerships between Government, local communities and Zimbabweans living abroad play a critical role in improving access to quality education and accelerating national development.
“President Mnangagwa is on record saying Zimbabweans should be responsible for building Zimbabwe, stone upon stone, brick by brick and leaving no person and no place behind,” he said.
“I am happy that the people of Gezi here in Murehwa are the ones who are behind this project at Gezi Primary School.
“Let me pay tribute to the Second Republic’s development thrust. Opening up the development arena to private players is not a slogan, it is a strategy. It allows initiative to grow wings and fly straight into communities like ours.
“The result is what you see here today, a structure that is modern, dignified, and built for the future.”
Construction works for the two blocks commenced in September 2025 and were completed in February this year.
Advocate Ndudzo said the construction pace shows commitment, and that development can be delivered when all stakeholders move as one.
