MINISTER of State for Matabeleland South Provincial Affairs and Devolution Albert Nguluvhe has said the Government remains committed to working closely with traditional leaders to ensure that community voices are incorporated into provincial planning and development initiatives.
Speaking on Sunday during an engagement meeting with traditional leaders from Chief Matibe’s area in Beitbridge, Minister Nguluvhe highlighted several key issues affecting communities and urged traditional leaders to play an active role in addressing them.

The meeting was also attended by local authority officials and other community leaders.
The engagement aimed to strengthen communication and cooperation between provincial leadership and traditional authorities. It also provided a platform to discuss local governance issues, community development priorities and concerns affecting rural communities.
“As traditional leaders we expect you to play a role in promoting respect within communities and leadership structures. There is also need for you as traditional leaders to work in unity in your hierarchy. We have kraal heads, village heads, headmen and chiefs.
If you show and display unity then you will have an impact in the community,” he said.
Minister Nguluvhe also urged traditional leaders to claim their space in ending early child marriages, which continue to negatively affect young girls and community development.
He also tasked traditional leaders to intensify efforts in combating drug and substance abuse, which has become a growing concern among youths.
