Ministry of Environment, Water and Climate to craft strategic plan

THE Ministry of Environment, Water and Climate is in the processing of crafting a strategic plan that is in sync with the Zimbabwe Agenda for Sustainable Socio-Economic Transformation (Zim Asset), Parliamentarians heard this morning.Appearing before the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Environment, Water, Tourism and Hospitality Industry, Permanent secretary in the ministry, Mr Prince Mupazviriho said the document would inform their mandate.

Chikomba Central Cde Felix Mhona was the acting chairperson in the absence of Cde Annastancia Ndhlovu.

“We are in the process of finalising the strategic plan which will clearly spell out the mandate, vision and mission statement (of the ministry),” said Mr Mupazviriho.

“We immediately embarked on the formulation of the strategic plan and currently where we are, we finalising it. As you all know, the country has adopted the Zim Asset. Now every ministry is required to make sure that the strategic plan is actually linked to Zim Asset. The work that we are carrying on now, is to make sure that all the relevant issues and aspect as mentioned in the Zim Asset are actually captured in that strategic plan.

“We are hoping that by mid next week, we will be through with the final document. And you should also be informed that it is that critical document that also makes sure that all the issues as provided for in the various Acts that fall under the ministry are actually captured and we have indicated what exactly we are going to be doing for the next five years.”
