The Ministry of Health and Child Care has urged Parliament to expedite the passage of health-related legislation, especially those meant to unlock resources to improve service delivery.

Permanent Secretary Dr Aspect Maunganidze made the call when he appeared before the Portfolio Committee on Health and Child Care today to brief them on the state of health delivery systems in rural areas.

“We also call upon Parliament to fast-track health-related legislation, especially that which will enable us to access more resources to improve health delivery,” Dr Maunganidze said.

The ministry will soon introduce the National Health Insurance Bill, which is expected to unlock more resources for service delivery.

Additionally, the ministry is working on the roll-out of e-health services to enhance linkages between primary health care centres and referral institutions.
