Ministry of Higher Education to launch human capital website

In an interview, the website manager for Zimbabwe Human Capital website, Mr Tapiwa Chimedza said the idea of this website was to encourage economic growth by increasing the talent pool in the country.

“Most of the skilled labour force went abroad during the time when the economic conditions were harsh and these people are crucial for economic change hence they should come and fill vacant positions that arise locally.

“Many of them would love to come back and work in the country but they don’t see job opportunities that arise so this will be a platform to put opportunities in the spotlight,” he said.

Mr Chimedza said they wanted to address the effects of brain drain by advertising employment where everyone has access no matter their location.

“There are employment opportunities and investment chances in Zimbabwe to Zimbabweans within and outside the country.

“We want jobs to be taken by Zimbabweans rather than invite people from other countries when there are a lot of skilled personnel who are abroad,” he said.

The Zimbabwe Human Capital, in conjunction with the Institute of People Management Zimbabwe (IPMZ), will be hosting a breakfast meeting to officially launch the website to human resources practitioners in Matabeleland today at a local hotel.

“The launch will bring together all human resource practitioners, captains of industry and commerce, IPMZ members and non-members.

“All the benefits of advertising on this website will be highlighted for the benefit of businesses that will be in attendance,” Mr Chimedza said.

Mr Chimedza said this website was going to give companies and organisations an opportunity to advertise vacancies that could have arisen in their organisations for free.

“The advantage of advertising on the website is that unlike print media and Zimbabwe television, it reaches everyone despite their location.

“It cuts all paper work whereby one has to bring in a curriculum vitae in the form of hard copy as people can do so online thereby reducing labour for everyone,” he said.
