THE Miss and Mr Rural Zimbabwe national launch, which was scheduled for Sunday, 4 October, at the Mbuya Nehanda Statue in Harare, has been postponed following the death of businessman Wicknell Chivayo.
The organisation said the decision was made in solidarity with the bereaved family and the nation.

Miss and Mr Rural Zimbabwe founder and organiser Sipho Mazibuko said the organisation is mourning with the Chivayo family and the country.
“We are mourning with the whole family and the whole country. As an organisation, we believe in the spirit of Ubuntu, which calls on us to stand together with others during difficult times. In respect of the late Cde Wicknell Chivayo and in solidarity with the bereaved family, we have decided to postpone the national launch,” she said.
Mazibuko said the organisation will attend the official national service on Sunday to pay its respects and stand in solidarity with the bereaved family.
She said the organisation will announce a new date for the launch after the ZANU-PF National Conference.
The launch was expected to bring together 26 models from six provinces — Matabeleland South, Matabeleland North, Manicaland, Mashonaland East, Masvingo and the Midlands.
The initiative, founded and organised by Mazibuko, seeks to promote rural youth empowerment, cultural preservation and leadership development while celebrating Zimbabwe’s cultural heritage.
