Preparations are at an advanced stage for the finals of the inaugural Miss World Heritage to be held on Saturday at the Rainbow Towers in Harare. The event will feature models representing Bahamas, Ecuador, Estonia, Ghana, India, Italy, Namibia, Nigeria, Russia, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
The models are currently in boot camp where they are engaging in team building activities such as games, work-outs and massages as well as social activities like parties that would help them know each other better.
Head of public relations for the pageant Noriya Shahadat described the mood in the camp as exhilarating and fun for both the models and the staff.
“There is so much excitement all over and the girls are having a lot of fun meeting new people and discovering what they have in common.
“On Saturday Miss Bahamas tasted sadza for the first time and she absolutely loved it and wants to cook it when she goes back,” she said.
“The models have made efforts to learn new languages to speak to each other because some only speak fluent Spanish or French and rarely speak English. The fact that the models represent countries from four continents means that we have many cultures converging.”
The concept behind the pageant is to develop tourism through fostering increased awareness of other people’s uniqueness and special cultural features.
The 2013 Miss World Heritage winner will execute duties that go hand in hand with World Heritage Tourism and Sustainable Development programme.
