Sixteen girls will compete for the much-coveted title, and only the top three girls will go on to compete in the Miss Zimbabwe national finals early next year.
Elizabeth Gandah, the regional licence holder for the Mashonaland Central Province, said preparations for the event are at an advanced stage and the girls are already in camp.
During their boot camp the girls will take part in empowerment workshops, as well as grooming and deportment programmes.
Running under the national theme “I am Zimbabwean”, the beauty pageant seeks to nurture a true Zimbabwean woman who embodies the virtues of humility and respect.
“Over the years, modelling has been viewed in negative light by locals, so we wish to change that perception as we will be working closely with the community,” said Gandah. Reigning Miss Mashonaland Central title holder Ayeta Banda is currently taking part in an environmental conservation project.
The pageant draws participants from Shamva, Mt Darwin, Madziwa, Bindura, Mazowe and surrounding areas. With the likes of Stunner, Sniper Storm, Derick Mpofu and the Bindura-based Way Band on the entertainment side of the big day, the show promises to be a big drawcard.
