MANICALAND province is set to host the provincial edition of the Miss Rural and Mr Rural pageant on April 12, with aspiring and established models from rural communities competing for top honours and a chance to advance to the national stage.

The event will also feature an all-night musical showcase highlighting emerging talent from across the province.

The pageant is expected to draw significant interest as it continues to grow into a platform that not only celebrates beauty and talent, but also promotes cultural identity and socio-economic empowerment in rural communities.

Minister of Women Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprises Development, Monica Mutsvangwa, is expected to officiate at the event, which she described as a key initiative for youth empowerment.

“The event is an important platform for promoting and empowering rural youths in Manicaland Province. Such initiatives contribute positively to youth development, community pride, and the preservation of cultural identity.

“Supporting this programme reflects a shared commitment to uplifting rural communities and creating opportunities for young people to showcase their talent and potential. Through collaboration, the initiative is well positioned to deliver meaningful and lasting benefits to rural youths and the wider community, while strengthening cultural pride and community development,” said Minister Mutsvangwa.

Zanu PF Mutare District Coordinating Committee (DCC) secretary for women affairs, Cde Loreen Mukodza, said the pageant plays a vital role in fostering patriotism and unity among young people.

“We are honoured to be hosting this event and are proud of what it represents. It will instil confidence and a sense of patriotism among the people of Manicaland.

“This initiative will promote unity among the youths, and talented models will have an opportunity to rise above poverty through exposure and opportunity,” she said. – Follow on X: @mthabisi_mthire
